Leaving Baltimore Harbour

Sailing Past Heir Island

The Courses

Run from May to September. Beginning on Monday mornings 10am and except for a lunch break (sometimes a picnic ) the days sailing ends usually at 5pm and finishes on Friday evening. We have a high teacher / pupil ratio on the courses with an instructor to every 4 pupils. At the end of a 5 day course 90% of our pupils can handle a dingy on their own under good weather conditions ( about half of our pupils are complete novices when they arrive to us ). The principle boats which we use are purpose built National 18s, Wayfarers and Lasers. Should you require our syllabus we would be happy to forward it to you.
Our Sailing School is a small family run business, we usually have between 16 and 22 people on each course and with the high number of instructors there is maximum individual attention.

Sailing Waters

Baltimore harbour and the region of Carbery's 100 Isles. We sail up around the Islands twice a week. As this area is mostly uninhabited it is a wonderful place to spend a day . On these trips there is a chance to learn a little about chartwork and anchoring.

Safety

Life jackets, which are supplied by the school are worn when in the boats. Our day boats are equipped with anchor, flares and oars. When the boats leave the harbour a safety boat always goes with them.

School Premises

The school premises are located in the village of Baltimore convienent to all the guesthouses hotels etc. We are situated in a very pleasant setting overlooking the harbour. There is a garden where people can have their lunch or just sit and enjoy the sun and sea air. The premises consists of a lecture room, office and toilet/showers.

Accommodation

While attending the school you can stay at a variety of accommodation, these include hotels, guest houses, self catering houses, hostel and camping site. We are always happy to send a detailed list of these.

Application

On receipt of your application form with a deposit, a list of things you should bring and relevant details will be forwarded to you. The balance of the fees to be paid on the first day of the course.

Most of all, the Sailing Course is a great holiday and we feel has a very special and unique atmosphere. Many people come back to enjoy the sailing and learn a little more.
